I hope, LORD.
My whole being hopes
and I wait for God’s promise.
The church year begins with the season of Advent as we await the coming of Christ and once again embrace the practices that help us to focus on hope, peace, joy and love. Here at Fairmount, you will find opportunities to gather for worship, celebrate with food and fun, and give of your resources to bless those in need. We enter this season with hope that this year we may again catch a glimpse of the grace of God entering our world in ways both ordinary and extraordinary.
Advent is indeed a season of waiting, but is idle waiting what God wants of us? In preparation for the coming Messiah, we wonder together - what things can’t wait? What demands our immediate attention? What requires our work and preparation? What is it that God can’t wait for? Is it our praise, reconciliation, and proclamation? Is it the end of suffering, isolation, and fear? This Advent, we invite you to join us in imagining, prioritizing, and preparing. As we wait, what can’t?
Consider making a commitment to attend worship and take part in a few church family activities which will strengthen your connection to God and others. Christmas Eve services will be at 5:00pm and 10:00pm when we celebrate the birth of Christ into our world.
We can’t wait to see you!
Join Us for Advent
Calendars, Craft Activities and a Reverse Advent Calendar are all available for individuals and families to incorporate into this season of Advent. The Reverse Advent Calendar encourages us to give back by gathering food items during the month of December to bring to worship on Christmas Eve for us to donate to emergency food banks in the area. Carve some time out, this Advent to breathe in the peace, hope, joy and love we find in Jesus Christ!
Each Advent season, through your contributions in memory and in honor of loved ones, we decorate the sanctuary with poinsettias for our Christmas Eve worship services. Any additional money raised from your memorial contributions will be used by the Serve Council in 2019 to provide support to our local mission partners. Order your poinsettia dedications now. Learn how to order by clicking here.
