The gospels textually narrate the life of Jesus. Over the centuries, painters have gifted the Christian
community with the fruits of their creative readings and artistic interpretations of the key events in
Jesus’ life. These works of art can function as prompts for our personal prayerful reflection and
meditation. As such, these paintings invite us into a deepening prayer-relationship with the Lord. Our
course will explore paintings grouped into four periods of Jesus’ life: his conception and birth; his public
ministry; his passion and death; and, his resurrection and events following his resurrection.
