Interim Senior Pastor/Head of Staff

We are writing to inform you and your colleagues in ministry about an exciting, full-time opportunity for interim ministry at Fairmount Presbyterian Church (FPC) in the vibrant, diverse community of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, through serving as a full-time Interim Senior Pastor/Head of Staff.  FPC is a community committed to following Christ, growing in faith, serving together, and caring for all.

Fairmount has long been a torchbearer for equity and equality in the Cleveland community. Its 100-year-plus legacy includes building low-income housing in one of Cleveland’s most impoverished neighborhoods, founding and supporting the Heights Youth Club, and participating as a member of Greater Cleveland Congregations (GCC), a non-partisan coalition of faith and partner organizations working together to build power for social justice in Cuyahoga County.

Fairmount extends this commitment to service outside of the Cleveland community as well, to include an ongoing commitment to a village in the sugar cane fields in the Dominican Republic. Through the care and sponsorship of Batey 105, a church initiative for over twenty-five years, Fairmount provides aid for basic village needs as well as programming developed to foster systematic change in the lives and futures of village residents. Additionally, Fairmount has committed to partner with Batey 105 for twenty-five more years.

A More Light congregation, Fairmount’s members reflect a diversity of attitudes and beliefs, yet they share a common commitment to honoring the church's action-focused legacy and affecting transformative change in themselves, their communities, and the world.

Fairmount currently has 750 members on its rolls. The most actively engaged members include 223 pledging units, Sunday worship participants ranging from 190-230, 17 youth in current confirmation class, and a growing population of young children. The adult membership breaks almost equally at the age of 60, with 370 members aged 18-59 and 380 members over the age of 60. Fairmount is led by a 12-member Session governing body and has a $1.2M annual budget.

Fairmount is a church that embraces its legacy and traditions while moving forward. This past year, Fairmount transformed its Christian education program in order to provide more meaningful faith formation opportunities for all. A resilient congregation, Fairmount is not afraid to try new things.  Fairmount is committed to being authentic, generous, inclusive, innovative, and relevant, and its congregants lean heavily on those values as they guide their church into the future.
