March 2023 Session Update

At the March 2023 Stated Session Meeting, Matt Hrubey presented his final report as Treasurer, affirming that Fairmount’s December 2022 giving exceeded expectations, allowing the church to end 2022 with a slight surplus.

Matt described how the role of the Treasurer had significantly changed. Director of Operations, Miesha Headen, having sufficient financial experience to take on many of the duties of the Treasurer, the 2024 Treasurer need not be a financial professional. The Elder moderator of the Administrative Council could perform the duties. The current Administrative Council moderator, Rob Faxon, discerned God’s call to be Treasurer after the Session meeting ended, and agreed soon after he would stand for Treasurer. Session will hold a virtual vote to elect the 2024 Treasurer prior to Matt’s final day as Treasurer, March 31.

Session approved the Finance Committee drafting documents to implement managing funds resulting from pandemic relief Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans that were forgiven. One half of the funds will be placed in operating reserve; one sixth to balance the 2023 budget, if needed; and one third will be used to initiate a capital expenditures fund.

Keith Mills presented a detailed report describing achieving Earth Stewardship goals of reducing the church’s reliance on non-renewable energy through installation of a photovoltaic array on the roof of Anderson Hall. Session sent to Administrative Council to request inspection of the Anderson Hall roof to assess its ability to bear the weight of the solar panels.

Session approved the baptism of Michael Bauhof, son of Mary Pat and Rev Matthew Bauhof; and Easter services at 9:00am and 11:00am, with the Easter Egg Hunt before the 11 am service.
